INTERNATIONAL WINE FESTIVAL Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
(December 17, 2007) |
Wine Country Network and Pueblo Bonito Oceanfront
Resorts & Spas are pleased to announce that acclaimed
chef Michael Schlow will be the featured celebrity
guest chef at the 2008 Cabo San Lucas International Wine
Festival. Chef Shlow will create a special
dinner at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach’s noted
Frida! Restaurant on Saturday, January 19th. Pueblo
Bonito's Executive Chef Antonio de Livier, who
will assist Chef Shlow in presenting the dinner, worked with Shlow
in Boston and considers the star chef his mentor.
Executive Chef and co-owner of Boston’s
Radius, Via Matta, Great Bay
and Alta Strada, - Michael Schlow
-is recognized as one of the leading chefs in the United States.
Since moving to Boston from New York City in 1995, he has been at
the culinary forefront and helped define and shape the city’s
restaurant landscape.
Along with business partner Christopher Myers,
Schlow opened Radius in January of 1999 and has succeeded in creating,
what many call, “the best restaurant in Boston.” Other
accolades for Radius, which features modern French cooking, include
being recognized as one of the top “25 Best American
Restaurants in 2001” by Gourmet magazine,
“The Best New Restaurant of 2000” by
Food & Wine magazine, and one of the “Best
New Restaurants in America” by Esquire.
In 2000, Schlow won the distinguished James Beard Award
of Excellence for “Best Chef in the Northeast,”
was named “Best Chef in the Country”
by Sante Magazine, and won the “Robert Mondavi
Culinary Award of Excellence,” an award given to only
six chefs each year.
In 2002, Schlow and Myers
teamed up again to open Via Matta, an authentic, exciting Italian
restaurant in Boston’s famed Back Bay area. An instant hit,
Via Matta, like it’s predecessor, was named one of “America's
Best Restaurants” by Gourmet and one of the “Best
New Restaurants in America” by Esquire.
The following year, the team opened yet another successful
operation, Great Bay, which features sophisticated seafood. Among
its many plaudits, Boston Magazine voted it the “Best Seafood
Restaurant in the city.
The honors that welcomed his many restaurants have
help to solidify Chef Schlow1s culinary reputation,
bringing him to national attention. He has made numerous television
appearances on network and cable food programs, including NBC’s
Today, Good Morning America, and the CBS Morning
Show. His presence continues to be requested at the most prestigious
culinary events such as The Masters of Food and Wine in Carmel,
CA, The World Culinary Summit in Dubai, and the World
Gourmet Summit in Singapore. He participates in numerous benefits
and charities and has won a humanitarian award for his creation
of A Dinner of Hope, a black-tie event benefiting children
with AIDS.
Chef Shlow resides in Boston and is the author of
It’s About Time: Great Recipes For Everyday Life,
published in 2005.
